WHO ARE WE
705BLACKFLY.COM is an innovative online magazine focusing on communities in Central and Northern Ontario. We also provide advertising, design, and videography services to small businesses and not for profit organizations.
We launched on September 1st, 2022. Like any new business owners, we hoped that consumers would embrace our company. However, we did not expect the response we got. In our first year, we received over 60, 000 views to our website and social media platforms! Our Google and Jetpack analytic reports show that 705BLACKFLY.COM is being read all over the world. In August 2023 alone, we’ve had views from the United States, Mexico, Ireland, United Kingdom, Pakistan, China, Australia, Israel, and Denmark.
From covering local events to an exclusive interview with the residents involved in the rescue of a snowmobiler who fell through the ice, we take a grassroots approach to storytelling. Even if it’s an international story, we put it in context for the 705.
Giving back is an essential part of 705BLACKFLY.COM. In our first year we have sponsored:

- Car shows in the Almaguin region
- We are brand ambassadors for Explore Almaguin

705BLACKFLY.COM is owned by Mike and Sabina Hooper. Mike manages operations while Sabina directs the editorial and creative side of the business. Sabina has a 31-year career in news broadcasting, most recently as the news producer for CityTV’s award-winning morning show, Breakfast Television. She’s also worked as a producer on Etalk, Entertainment Tonight Canada and E!/HBO, as well as being the creator, executive producer, and host of the 10-part series, “Ghosts of Mississauga”.
