Arnold Gehrke: Memories Of A Commanda Veteran

Arnold Ernest Gehrke has born in Commanda, Ontario on June 30th, 1923, and served overseas during World War II. He missed the Dieppe Raid by just 2 days but went on to serve in Holland and Germany Over the next few weeks, Arnold will share his memories of growing up during the depression, moving to Hamilton to start a career, and returning to Commanda after the war to find love and start a family.   705BLACKFLY.COM is partnering with the Commanda General Store Museum to preserve stories like Arnold’s for future generations. Like many not-for-profit agencies, the museum is trying to rebuild after the Covid-19 pandemic. Please donate or volunteer to keep important projects like this going.
