Burk’s Falls Musician Turned Town Councillor Sean Cotton

From the sounds of the city to the tranquility of Northern Ontario. Musician Sean Cotton made the move to Burk’s Falls from Toronto 13 years ago and has never looked back.

Sean is a well-established artist in the Muskoka and Almaguin Highlands region. After retiring from a 20-year career on the road and in the studio as a guitar player and harmony vocalist with performing-song writing duo The Undesirables, he now operates a recording studio producing other artists, recording his own albums, and working as a jingle composer for radio.

When seeing Sean perform, you can’t help but be blown away by this one-man band. In addition to his amazing voice, he fills out the back beat of the music with his feet with a tambourine adorned guitar case and ankle bells on his left leg. It’s incredible to watch – and hear!

Sean is now taking his love for the Almaguin Highlands from his music to the council chambers in Burk’s Falls. Although he jokes that his high school was bigger than the township, there’s no mistaking his genuine love for the town. Sean says he cares less about “politics”, and more about making Burk’s Falls a place the residents can be proud of.

In our video, Sean talks about why our region inspires artists, and why he decided to run for council in Burk’s Falls.
