We usually stick to what’s happening in the 705 but we will share stories from outside of the region when they are particularly compelling. We found the video of this attempted robbery by 6 youths so alarming that we decided to share it. And it gives the public a chance to see highly trained law enforcement in action in a real-life situation. Make sure you have your volume up.
On Friday, March 14, 2025, investigators with York Regional Police #4 District Criminal Investigations Bureau investigated a stolen Acura TLX sedan that was located in the City of Vaughan.
Six suspects were identified as being associated to the stolen vehicle. Investigators with the hold-unit and 4CIB monitored the vehicle which travelled to the area of Billy Bishop Way and Wilson Avenue where five suspects exited carrying sledgehammers and bags. The suspects approached a jewelry store and are seen attempting to smash their way inside. However, they failed and fled back to the vehicle. Police vehicles then enter the scene, with a pick-up truck ramming the front of the stolen vehicle.
With the assistance of the Emergency Response, Canine and Air Support units, six youths were taken into custody. One suspect remains outstanding. Charges include:

- Security systems, including alarms and cameras, should be installed, monitored and regularly maintained.
- At night, or when there are minimal staff, or in businesses stocked with valuables, consider locking the doors and using a buzz-in system with a video-recorded entrance that has two-way voice communication to speak with customers before letting them in.
- If you don’t feel comfortable, trust your instincts.
- Contact the police promptly if you observe suspicious or criminal behavior.
