OPP – LOADED HANDGUN AND DRUGS SEIZED BY OPP IN COLLINGWOOD
Collingwood and Blue Mountains OPP and the Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) have seized cocaine, fentanyl, a loaded handgun, and arrested and charged four people in relation to the execution of a search warrant in the early morning of September 12, 2024.
An investigation into trafficking of cocaine and fentanyl in the Collingwood area was commenced during the summer of 2024 by Collingwood and Blue Mountains OPP CSCU. As a result of the investigation, a search warrant was obtained for a residence on Katherine St, Collingwood. With the assistance of the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), Huronia West Detachment CSCU, OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB) and OPP Canine the warrant was executed at about 3:00am on September 12, 2024.
Police arrested five accused inside of the residence. Police also seized a loaded handgun, over 5.5 ounces of cocaine, 26 grams of fentanyl, 7 grams of psilocybin, three expandable batons, other evidence of drug trafficking including $855 Canadian currency.
As a result of the investigation, the following persons have been charged with the following offences:
Christopher Sabean, 48 years of age, of Collingwood has been charged with:
- Possession of Schedule 1 Substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
- Possession of Schedule 1 Substance for the purpose of trafficking – Fentanyl
- knowledge of unauthorised possession of a firearm
- Possession of a loaded Firearm
- Possession of Firearm knowing Serial Number has been Tampered With
- Unauthorised possession of a Firearm
- Possession of Prohibited ammunition or device – two counts
- Possession of Firearm contrary to Prohibition Order
- Failure to comply with Release Order
- Possession of Proceeds of Crime
The accused was held for bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie.
Jennifer McIntyre, 32 years of age, of Collingwood has been charged with:
- Possession of Schedule 1 Substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
- Possession of Schedule 1 Substance for the purpose of trafficking – Fentanyl
The accused was held for bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie.
April Byers, 44 years of age, of Collingwood has been charged with:
- Possession of Schedule 1 Substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
Tammy Carson, 39 years of age, of Collingwood has been charged with:
- Possession of Schedule 1 Substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
James Thornington, 48 years of age, of Collingwood has been charged with:
- Possession of Schedule 1 Substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
The accused Christopher Sabean and Jenifer McIntyre were held in custody bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie. The accused April Byers, Tammy Carson, and James Thornington were released on an undertakings and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood, on a future date.

OPP – YOUNG PERSON ARRESTED FOR PROHIBITED WEAPON
A young person was arrested for being in possession of a sawed-off shotgun.
On September 11, 2024, at approximately 2:00 p.m., the James Bay OPP responded to a call reporting a prohibited weapon at a residence on Cedar Street in Kapuskasing. A search warrant was executed at that residence on Cedar Street, and police located one sawed-off shotgun, along with a 12-gauge cartridge.
As a result of the investigation, a 17-year-old person from Kapuskasing, was arrested and charged with:
- Possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Careless storage of a firearm
- Possession of a firearm contrary to prohibition order
- Possession of ammunition contrary to prohibition order
- Fail to comply with sentence
The OPP will not be releasing the name of the accused person under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA).
OPP – ONE PERSON ARRESTED WEAPONS OFFENCES
One person was arrested on nine criminal weapons offences after a warrant was executed in Moosonee.
On September 9, 2024, at approximately 6:00 p.m., the James Bay OPP executed a search warrant on Quarry Road in Moosonee. As a result of the search, police located several firearms, various types of rifle ammunition including 292 live rounds, and ammunition reloading equipment.
As a result of the investigation, John Tozer, 49 years of age from Moosonee, was arrested and charged with:
- Careless storage of ammunition
- Careless storage of a firearm (four counts)
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm (four counts)
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Moosonee on November 12, 2024.
BARRIE POLICE – TWO PEOPLE ARRESTED IN BARRIE AFTER TRAFFIC STOP
Two Bradford residents are facing multiple charges after a traffic stop in Barrie earlier this week.
On September 6, 2024, during an unrelated investigation, members of the High-Harm Unit observed a vehicle that they believed was being operated by an impaired driver. With the assistance of uniformed officers, a traffic stop was conducted and through the investigation, a fully loaded handgun was seized, along with a quantity of cash and drugs.
A 24-year-old Bradford man is now facing a number of firearms and drug-related charges including:
Careless storage of a firearm
Unauthorized possession of a firearm
Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm
Occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm
Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition
Possession of prohibited or restricted weapon obtained by crime
Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose
Possess of a Schedule 1 substance
Possess of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking
Having care or control of a vehicle with cannabis readily available
A 22-year-old Bradford woman is also facing numerous firearms-related charges including:
Careless storage of a firearm
Unauthorized possession of a firearm
Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm
Occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm
Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition
Possession of prohibited or restricted weapon obtained by crime
Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose
The 24-year-old male was remanded into custody following a bail hearing. The 22-year-old female was released on an undertaking with a future court date.
