Flooding in the 705

The combination of spring rain and accelerated snowmelt from the recent warm temperatures forced some Ontario conservation authorities to declare flood warnings. The above photograph was taken at Doe Lake on April 19th. As you can see, the beach and park were underwater. We spoke with the Almaguin fire chiefs and they all caution people to stay away from rushing water. Doe Lake in Katrine is known as a flood prone area. Most watersheds have returned to average levels, but river flows are expected to remain high, above flood thresholds, for the next several days. Please keep your kids and pets away from that area.
