“I was speechless – which is kind of rare,” Brenda Turnour says with a laugh.
Huntsville artist Brenda Turnour is the winner of the 2025 Yellow Pages Directory Cover Competition. The theme of the nationwide art competition is, “Our Cover, Your Canvas,” and Brenda found inspiration in downtown Huntsville. She says her winning entry captures the spirit of smalltown Canada.
“This is a typical, Canadian downtown scene,” Brenda says. “It could be in any of our communities.”
Nearly six million Yellow Pages directories are distributed throughout Canada. Brenda’s winning piece will be featured on the front cover of selected Yellow Pages print directories starting in January 2025 through June 2025.
“The emotional connection that these artists feel toward their local communities and the businesses that are the backbone of Canada was evident through their pieces of art.” says Sherilyn King, Senior Vice President of Sales, Marketing, and Customer Service at Yellow Pages. “We could not be prouder to be showcasing beautiful artwork on our 2025 cover. Thank you to all those who submitted pieces and sincere congratulations to Brenda Turnour as the first winner of our 2025 Yellow Pages Directory Cover Competition.”
A fourth-generation artist, Brenda began studying art at the age of eight in Orillia and sold her first piece at just 12 years old. She has spent a lifetime painting, teaching and judging art. In addition to winning over 50 awards, she’s the Past President of the Central Ontario Art Association, and Past Vice-Chair of the Cambridge Arts & Culture Advisory Committee to Cambridge City Council, which created Cambridge’s Arts and Culture Master Plan.
