A 25-year-old Toronto man, and a 32-year-old North Bay woman were arrested in North Bay last week, and a loaded handgun, drugs and cash were seized during the subsequent investigation.
In the winter of 2025, the North Bay Police Service’s Street Crime Unit began an investigation in relation to illegal drugs being trafficked out of a Regina Street residence and a Worthington Street East residence in North Bay. As a result of this investigation, two search warrants were obtained, and on May 15th at around 9:45 pm, members of the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit, along with members of the NBPS Street Crime executed the search warrants simultaneously at two units within the Worthington Street East location.
As a result of police searches, the following was seized:
- A loaded Glock 19 Handgun
- 14 rounds of ammunition
- 52.9 grams of Cocaine
- 25 grams of Crack Cocaine
- 1.5 grams of Fentanyl
- $1020.00 in Canadian Currency
The value of the seized drugs and cash was approximately $9110.00
“Smaller communities in the north and throughout Ontario are not immune from criminal elements that are spreading outwards from the GTA,” says Inspector Scott McFarlanen of the Criminal Investigations Unit states. “Crime has no borders, and with the increase and prevalence of firearms, dangerous individuals and powerful drugs, particularly opiates and their various derivatives, it is imperative that policing agencies work in partnership to fight this type of criminal activity.”
The accused in this incident is Victor Miranda, male, 25 years who is charged with:
- Three counts of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking in a Scheduled 1 Substance
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing It’s Possession is Unauthorized
- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon
- Possession of a Prohibited Device
- Careless Storage of a Firearm
- Breach of Firearm Prohibition Order
The co-accused is Taylor Andryechen, female, 32 years of North Bay, who is charged with;
- Three counts of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking in a Scheduled 1 Substance
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing It’s Possession is Unauthorized
- Possession of a Prohibited of Restricted Weapon
- Possession of a Prohibited Device
- Careless Storage of a Firearm
- Breach of a Release Order
Both of the accused were held in custody, pending a bail hearing.
