It’s an opportunity for aviation enthusiasts to spread their wings and delve into their passion.
“North Bay Aviation Expo 2025: Your Gateway to Aviation” is part of North Bay’s 100th Anniversary celebrations. The community can explore the region’s vibrant aerospace industry through interactive exhibits, facility tours, and hands-on activities across multiple locations up Airport Road.
Seven locations are set to host the events. There is literally something for everyone and the activities give participants a hands-on experience. At the Canadore College Aviation Campus visitors can tour modern classrooms and aviation labs, explore a fleet of aircraft, and experience new simulation technologies.
At Voyageur Aviation, you’ll get an inside look at a major Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul facility courtesy of aviation professionals.
The Ministry of Natural Resources is opening its hangar for tours, giving visitors the chance to meet pilots and get up close with their specialized fleet of aircraft used in wildfire management and conservation efforts.
The Canadian Forces Museum of Aerospace Defence (22 Wing/CFB North Bay) will offer free admission and have extended hours to explore Canada’s aerospace and air defence history with engaging exhibits and artifacts.
Ever wonder how planes maneuver around each other? NAV Canada Tower Tours on Terminal Street will give a rare behind-the-scenes look at air traffic services in action and discover how controllers safely guide aircraft from above.
Jack Garland Airport is the spot to be for young aviation enthusiasts. Explore history in the terminal, see real airport equipment up close, and enjoy hands-on activities including paper airplane making, colouring contests, games, and a photo booth. Dress up in your best aviation-themed costume and take part in the costume contest starting at 9:00 AM.
And from the air to the ground – Executive Aviation will give an up-close look at the powerful equipment that keeps aircraft moving on the ground! Got a need for speed? You’ll also get to see what it takes to keep planes ready for takeoff.
On June 7th and 8th, the Canadian Owners and Pilots Association will offer free introductory flights for youth aged 8 to 18. Pre-registration is required. For questions email northbaycopaflight23@gmail.com.
And to wrap up your big day of exploring aviation, how about catching a flick? Voyageur Aviation and United Way Centraide North East Ontario is hosting a Drive-In Movie Night on June 7th at 8:00 PM at Voyageur Aviation. The price is $25/vehicle and you can purchase tickets online. All proceeds will support local United Way programs.
