Parry Sound–Muskoka Leads Province In Advanced Voting

We are in the home stretch of the 2025 election campaign and Parry-Sound-Muskoka is leading the way in voting in Ontario.

In data released by Elections Ontario on Monday, 678,789 — or roughly 6.14 per cent of the electorate — voted in the three-day advanced voting period. The riding that saw the highest advanced turnout was Parry Sound–Muskoka with 10.7 per cent. Progressive Conservative incumbent Graydon Smith is in a tight race with six-time Green Party candidate Matt Richter.

RIDING NUMBER OF VOTES TURNOUT
PARRY SOUND-MUSKOKA 8, 985 10.67%
NIPISSING 5,103 7.96%
SAULT STE. MARIE 1, 973 3.23%
SUDBURY 3, 393 5.08%
THUNDER BAY-ATIKOKAN 2, 802 4.62%
THUNDER BAY – SUPERIOR NORTH 3, 392 6.18%
TIMISKAMING-COCHRANE 3, 261 6.64%
TIMMINS 2, 117 6.40%

Kiiwetinoong, the geographically expansive riding that covers the province’s far northwest, saw the lowest advance turnout at 2.4 per cent. That’s not necessarily surprising given the electoral district’s population and winter weather.

In 2022, more than one million people, or about 9.92 per cent, cast an advanced ballot over a 10-day period. The final voter turnout in that election was among the lowest in Ontario’s history, with only about 43 per cent of the electorate voting. In 2018, the advanced voting period was five days, and about 6.8 per cent of those eligible participated, according to Elections Ontario.

Many people have reported that they have not received their voter card. Canada Post told the CBC that it handles a large volume of election materials, including approximately 10.5 million voter information cards. Due to the recent snowstorms, some areas in the province may have experienced delivery delays. If your card doesn’t arrive in time, you can still cast a ballot by bringing a piece of identification with your name and home address to your assigned voting location.

The election is on Thursday February 27th. To find out where you can vote, go to the Elections Ontario website.
