Powassan Fall Fair & Demolition Derby

It’s a popular 126-year-old tradition – the Powassan Fall Fair is coming on September 2nd and 3rd.

Isabel Topps of the Powassan Agricultural Society told us that last year’s event attracted over one thousand people. The event provided such an economic boost to the area that local bank machines ran out of money!

Of course, there are two days of great activities including traditional fair competitions, a rabbit and & poultry show, and heatwave blacksmithing. For a schedule of events go to powassanfallfair.ca.

“Saturday we have the heavy horse pulls which is always a crowd pleaser,” Isabel said. “We have lots of things for kids, a petting zoo. And lots of vendors. There’s also live music. Saturday is Timburr Country, on Sunday there’s Gord Reid, and the Gibbings Family Band.”

The fair’s biggest attraction is undoubtedly Sunday’s Demolition Derby. We spoke with Coordinator Randie Jamieson about the vehicles involved and what fans can expect at this year’s show. Check out our video!
