We all have them – that dress, suit or pair of shoes that we haven’t worn in years. You can put them to good use by donating to The Bracebridge Library’s “Say Yes to Your Dress” program. Don’t worry guys – the library is also accepting menswear!
“Donations must be new or gently used and can be dresses, suits, or accessories,” says Mathew Reisler, Marketing and Communications Coordinator. “We’re hoping to have a wider selection of suits – including dress shirts, shoes, and ties – this year. While we always have an abundance of dresses, our selection of suits lags behind.”
Cleaning your closet of unused items is not just a way of making space and recycling. Donated clothes can be a lifeline for people facing financial hardship – especially young people who may not be able to afford new outfits as we head into prom season.
“We want to make your prom, grad, or whatever big day you’re preparing for as stress-free as possible,” says Reisler. “When you leave the library with a new outfit, you will be ready to look – and feel – your best.”
Donations will be accepted until Saturday, April 26th and can be brought to the Bracebridge Library at 34 Salmon Avenue.
Formal wear and accessories will be available for free from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 3rd and registration is not required. The event is a popular one, so Matthew advises that you get there early.
“The line-up to get in often starts well before the event starts, so the earlier you can get to the library, the better.”
