The Voyageur 200 Charity Gravel Cycling Event To Support North Bay Regional Health Centre

If you’re into cycling on rough terrain, here’s a chance to put your skills to the test. The Voyageur 200 makes its return on August 16th. Riders will tackle a rugged and rewarding test of endurance on the gravel backroads and trails of Corbeil, Bonfield, Mattawa, North Bay, and Callander.

The grassroots charity cycling event is entirely volunteer-run and was founded by local cyclist and stroke survivor, Jeff Miller, in partnership with Discovery Routes. Proceeds from the ride will go to support the North Bay Regional Health Centre (NBRHC) Foundation, specifically for Aphasia awareness and support.

Aphasia is a language impairment often caused by stroke. The condition leaves a person unable to communicate effectively with others. A person with aphasia may have trouble understanding, speaking, reading, or writing.

Thanks to the dedication of volunteers and the cycling community, the ride has raised $8,000 in just two years ago.

“Events like this not only raise critical funds, but also build awareness and bring our community together in a powerful way. We’re inspired by every rider, volunteer, and donor who pedals with purpose to support exceptional healthcare for our loved ones,” says Tammy Morison, President & CEO of the NBRHC Foundation.

New for 2025 is an introductory 30 KM course to welcome riders who are new to gravel, making the event more accessible. For more experienced cyclists looking for a challenge, there is a 60 KM, 100KM and an epic 200 KM ride that winds through rugged trails and remote backroads.

Riders will be supported along the routes with aid stations and light snacks – plus they’ll kick off the day with local touches like cold brew from First Gear Grinds. The fun doesn’t end once you pass the finish line! Post-race festivities including live music and a BBQ. And, riders will get the VIP treatment with a mini massage from Canadian Career College students plus an edible medal made of locally famous fudge from The Green Store.

Spectators are invited to cheer on riders and enjoy the festivities at the Four Season Club on Corbeil Road where a donation to the NBRHC Foundation gets you access to the BBQ, cash bar and afternoon entertainment. Organizers would like to thank Lefebvre Industrial Commercial for being this year’s title sponsor.

The Voyageur 200 says its mission is simple: to raise awareness of Aphasia through a love of bikes, community and endurance sport.  They say teaming up with Discovery Routes showcases the incredible network of trails across the region, helps to grow the riding community, and encourages new investments in trails.

Full race details, including registration, technical requirements and sponsorship opportunities are available on the Voyageur 200 website. You can also follow them on Facebook and Instagram. Registration closes August 9th!
