Search For Missing Man In Gravenhurst

705BLACKFLY.COM has received an update on the search for a missing man in Gravenhurst last weekend.

35-year-old Chance Kay was last seen on March 29th, 2024, at the Skyways Hotel on Highway 11 in Gravenhurst. He was last seen near Winhara Road. His car was found abandoned at the motel.

The search, held on Saturday August 23rd, was coordinated by Nicole Griffiths, a friend of Chance’s. His mother, Della, flew in from Saskatchewan to participate in looking for son. The search was led by members of Ontario Search and Recovery Canines, a non-profit organization that assists agencies and families in the recovery of missing persons.

Nicole Griffiths has informed us that Chance was not found and the search did not uncover any new information.

“Della was devastated she couldn’t bring her son home yet, but she is grateful for the initial search,” Nicole said in an email. “Della also brought Krista Lynn, Chance’s partner and the mother of his children.”

Nicole still believes that Chance may have fallen victim to crime.

“I still in my heart can’t see Chance running from his kids,” she says. “It would be nice if he was just living somewhere far away… and would come home.”

Through media coverage and social media posts, many people came forward with information regarding possible sightings of Chance in various cities including Toronto, Oshawa, Windsor, Barrie and as far away as Regina. Della personally went to Barrie to hand out flyers. As a mother, a part of her holds on to hope, but she admits to be bracing herself for the worst. She says she just wants to bring her son home to rest.

“I’m hopeful that I do find him so that I can bring him home and lay him where he should be,” a heartbroken Della told us in a telephone interview last week.

Family and friends have started a Facebook group called Bring Chance Home and everyone is welcome to join.

“The more exposure we can get for this case the better, as the more people know about Chance’s case, the better chance we have for tips,” says Nicole.

Chance Kay is described as five feet eight inches tall with a slim build, long auburn hair, brown eyes, tattoos, including some on his face. He was last seen wearing a black Adidas hoodie and green track pants.

The OPP told us that Chance’s disappearance remains an active case. Anyone with information is asked to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122. If you wish to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or submit a tip online.
