Man Wanted In Canada-Wide Manhunt Arrested In Parry Sound

705BLACKFLY.COM has confirmed with the Toronto Police Service that a man wanted in a Canada-wide warrant for second degree murder has been arrested at the Magnetawan Reserve in Parry Sound.

30-year-old Demetrius McFarquar was wanted for 2nd degree murder in the shooting death of 23-year-old Mohamed Asser. On December 13th, 2021 just before 4 a.m., Toronto police said they received calls about a man shot inside a club in the area of Nugget Avenue and McCowan Road in Scarborough. When they arrived, they found the victim with life-threatening injuries. Asser was transported to the hospital, where he died.

Five days after the shooting, police arrested 32-year-old Jonathan Hill and charged him with second-degree murder.

We have also confirmed with the Anishinabek Police Service that they worked in conjunction with the Ontario Provincial Police on the arrest. The male suspect attempted to flee on foot but was located by OPP Canine and arrested. $3,525 in cash and 128 individually measured bags of cocaine with an estimated street drug value of $6,000 was located after being discarded while the male was fleeing. The suspect was subsequently arrested by APS for Possession with a purpose of trafficking & Possession of Property obtained by Crime.
