North Bay Police

The North Bay Police Service continues its search for 15-year-old Meekah. Police are making a renewed request to members of the public for any information that can assist with locating Meekah, including video footage of Bob Wood Drive and Airport Road around the time she went missing.

Meekah was last seen at approximately 7:30 p.m. on August 6, 2024, leaving a residence facility in the area of Bob Wood Drive, formerly known as Airport Way, off of Airport Road.

Meekah is described as:

  •         Female
  •         Age 15
  •         White skin
  •         Height: Approximately 5’4”
  •         Medium build
  •         Hair: Dark brown, medium length, curly
  •         Eyes: Dark brown
  •         Last Seen Wearing: Black top, burgundy pants, brown purse, walking boot on right leg
  •         Identifying Features: Tattoos on right shin (the number “420”), leg (Image of a heart), right forearm (Writing in brown ink), and wrist (Image of a smiley face).

“Our Criminal Investigation Section has been working diligently to exhaust all avenues in an effort to locate Meekah,” said the North Bay Police Service’s Inspector of Operations, Jeff Warner. “We are asking anyone who may remember seeing anyone matching Meekah’s description walking along Airport Road around the time of her disappearance to contact us. Meekah would have been wearing a walking boot at the time, and we hope this may stand out in the minds of those who saw her at the time. We are also asking anyone with dash cam footage from the time or residential camera footage in the area of Airport Road to check their footage for anyone matching Meekah’s description. Our officers will continue to work tirelessly on this investigation to locate Meekah. We ask anyone with information to contact the North Bay Police Service.”

Bracebridge OPP

The Bracebridge Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is seeking the public’s assistance in the ongoing search for a Bracebridge man who has been missing for one year.

On September 12, 2023, officers of the Bracebridge OPP responded to a call from a member of the public expressing concerns about 38-year-old Daniel HOLDEN. Although he was initially reported missing from the Bracebridge area, police believe he was in the area of Southwood Road in the Town of Gravenhurst on August 12, 2023.

Daniel Holden is described as 5’6″ (168 cm) tall, with short black hair and was last seen wearing a black sweater with white stripes on the sleeves and black pants. He has been known to drive a gold 2002 Mazda MPV minivan bearing Ontario plate CKXC 268.

The Bracebridge OPP Crime Unit is continuing the investigation under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch. Anyone who may have information about Daniel HOLDEN’s whereabouts or the vehicle he is known to drive is asked to contact the Bracebridge OPP at 1-888-310-1122. West Parry Sound OPP

West Parry Sound OPP with the assistance of OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), OPP Canine Unit and OPP Aviation Services have arrested and charged a person with multiple offences following a search in McDougall Township.

On August 8, 2024, at approximately 6:00 p.m. the West Parry Sound OPP were dispatched to a report of a suspicious person around Nobel in McDougall Township. The person fled as officers approached resulting in a search for the subject and the recovery of a stolen vehicle from southern Ontario.

As a result of the investigation, Trevor Whittaker, 31-years-of-age of Norfolk County was arrested and charged with:

Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle

Mischief – destroys or damages property

Fail to Comply with release order

Fail to Comply with Probation – two counts

Theft under $5000

Unlawfully in a Dwelling house

The accused was held for bail and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on August 15, 2024.

OPP

The Huntsville Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a single motor vehicle collision in the Town of Huntsville.

On August 12, 2024, at 5:40 a.m., members of the Huntsville Detachment responded to a single vehicle rollover collision on Highway 11 Southbound. Three occupants were in the vehicle. Two occupants were transported to a local hospital by EMS with non-life-threatening injuries, and one occupant was airlifted to a trauma centre by Air ORNGE with life altering injuries.

Highway 11 Southbound was closed between Stephenson Road 8 West and Highway 141 while the OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) Team processed the scene. The road was reopened by 10:00 a.m.

Today at approximately 2 AM, an officer was traveling North on Durham Rd 2 in a marked cruiser after assisting another police service, when a large chunk of asphalt was thrown at the cruiser & cracked the shield and caused the glass to shatter inside the cruiser. Durham Regional Police is investigating.

Barrie Police

On Friday, August 9, 2024, shortly after 1:30 p.m., the Barrie Police Service responded to a report of a break and enter in progress at a residence located in a low-rise residential complex located on St. Vincent St. at Grove St. E. in the City of Barrie. Initial reports received indicated that a lone male was trying to break down a door and he was using tools to forcibly gain entry.

A detailed description of the male was provided and responding officers located at a male fitting the description outside of the building. The male provided police with an explanation as to why he was trying to break in, but the officers were able to determine that was not the case, and that the narrative provided was designed to detract from the real reason for the attempted entry.

A 34-year-old male, of no fixed address, was arrested and has been charged with Mischief under $5000 with respect to the damage done to the apartment door and Possession of Break-In Instrument. He was released a short time later and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Barrie On September 16, 2024.
