A Barrie woman is facing a number of charges after colliding with an E-bike rider.
On August 6, 2026, at 10:30 p.m. Barrie Police officers attended the scene of a collision involving a passenger vehicle and an electric bicycle in the Anne Street North and Dunlop Street West intersection.
Police reviewed available CCTV camera footage that revealed the passenger vehicle ran a red light on Anne Street North and collided with a motorized e-bike travelling through the intersection on a green light. The passenger vehicle left the scene, travelling northbound on Anne Street North.
The e-bike rider, a 38-year-old man, sustained minor injuries. He was assessed by paramedics as a precaution.
Roughly half an hour later, officers located the suspect vehicle in a Bayfield Street parking lot with damage consistent with the collision captured on CCTV. A female occupant was inside the vehicle and placed in custody on suspicion of impaired driving.
She was transported to Barrie Police Headquarters on Fairview Road where a qualified breath technician conducted testing. The test confirmed the accused was by impaired by nearly four times the legal limit.
The 45-year-old woman from Barrie is facing the following charges:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Fail to stop after accident
- Fail to render assistance
- Fail to report accident
- Operate a motor vehicle without insurance
- Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit
Barrie Police is reminding the public that one bad decision can put a stranger in the path of your mistake. Impaired driving doesn’t just put the driver at risk.
