Nipissing MPP Seeking Local WWII Veterans

Vic Fedeli, MPP for Nipissing is reaching out to the public to find our local Canadian WWII veterans, so that they can honour the contributions they’ve made to our country and province.

“Our veterans have made tremendous sacrifices to keep our province and country safe,” said Fedeli in a news release. “The number of Second World War veterans across Canada is steadily diminishing. We’d like to take an opportunity to honour them, by nominating them for the King Charles III Coronation Medal.”

The medal can be issued posthumously, as long as the veteran was alive on May 6, 2023 – the date His Majesty was crowned

“They fought for King and country; let’s honour them with the new King’s medal,” added Fedeli.  “We’ve been told through Veteran Affairs that we have a small number of WWII Canadian veterans in Nipissing, however, due to privacy laws, they are unable to share the veterans’ information with us. We are reaching out to the public to ask for assistance. If you know an area Canadian WWII veteran, please ask them or their family to contact us”.
