Here in the 705, accessing health care can sometimes be a challenge. Imagine being a senior, a person with a disability or someone who is extremely ill and you’re forced to miss an important medical appointment just because you don’t have a ride. That is the reality that many people are facing. East Parry Sound Community Support Services is looking for volunteer drivers to help bring people to their medical appointments.
The program covers Novar to Callander. As a volunteer, the organization will work with your availability and what area you’d like to volunteer in. You can volunteer as often as you like, and you will receive mileage reimbursement. Drivers must have a reliable vehicle, clean driving record, and a vulnerable sector check, as well as inform their insurance they are becoming volunteer drivers.
