Free Screening of “Massacre At Femur Creek” In North Bay

Horror – and laughs – are coming to the Galaxy Cinemas in North Bay. On April 16th, the Bay of Blood Film Festival will host a free screening of the Canadian slasher flick, “Massacre at Femur Creek.”

The film gives a tongue in cheek nod to classic slasher flicks like ‘Friday the 13th’ and ‘Halloween’ – plus pays homage to popular John Hughes’ movies like ‘Sixteen Candles’ and ‘Ferris Bueller’s Day Off’.

As his wedding day approaches, a nervous groom reluctantly joins his childhood friends at a wild bachelor party. However, the festivities turn into a night of terror when a psychotic killer starts hunting them down, forcing the group to confront their deepest fears and fight for their lives in a desperate struggle for survival.

Filmed on a budget of $10,000 in Hamilton, Ontario, ‘Massacre at Femur Creek’ has been accepted to several film festivals around the world and screened to audiences from Canada, USA and the UK. It won the Best Canadian Feature award at Amazing Fantasy Fest in New York as well as the Best Horror Comedy at the Fright Night Film Fest in Louisville, Kentucky.

Several online magazines and publications have reviewed ‘Massacre at Femur Creek’, including Rotten Tomatoes approved critics. It holds a 90% on Rotten Tomatoes, a 7.7/10 on IMDB and 3.5/5 on Letterboxd.

705BLACKFLY.COM sat down with writer, director and producer Kyle Hytonen – who is originally from Thunder Bay! – about the frightening and fun theme of the movie, and why slasher films never go out of style. Check out our video!
