North Bay Police Conducting Safety Blitz As Part Of Canada Road Safety Week

Canada Road Safety Week is a 7-day national campaign aimed at making Canada’s roads the safest in the world. This annual awareness campaign is designed to increase public compliance with safe driving measures to save lives and reduce injuries on Canada’s roads. The focus of this campaign continues to be on the elimination of impaired driving, distracted driving, aggressive driving, and driving without a seatbelt.

This year’s campaign theme continues to be “Road Safety — Every Road. Every Day. Everyone.”. North Bay Police are asking everyone to reaffirm a commitment to ensuring safe journeys for all, not only this week, but always. Remember: Every time you buckle up, obey road safety rules and ensure your mind is clear. You are not just safeguarding yourself and your passengers, but also everyone else with whom you share the road.

“People can expect to see an increased police presence on our roadways and highways as we focus on enforcement during Road Safety Week targeting distracted driving, aggressive driving, impaired driving and seat belt use” says Inspector of Operations Jeff Warner. “With the increase in travel throughout the long weekend, our officers will be out there watching for infractions that put the travelling public and our community at risk. We ask everyone to slow down, pay attention to what’s around you and respect the rules of the road”

In a news release, the North Bay Police Service said it’s proud to be participating in this year’s Canada Road Safety Week campaign and supporting their efforts to make the roads in North Bay among the safest in Canada.

Locally, North Bay Police Service officers will be concentrating on Speeding, Cell phone use, Seatbelt use, Enclosed Mobility Scooters and muffler enforcement. They will also be conducting a Commercial Motor Vehicle Safety blitz in partnership with the OPP and MTO.
