Canada’s best show skiers return to Kearney — now with a ski jump!
On Saturday, November 8th at 1:00 p.m., Santa Claus and his merry crew of elves will once again hit the icy waters of Mirror Bay for the 9th Annual Santa Claus Charity Ski Show, raising funds for the Burk’s Falls and District Food Bank.
This year promises to be bigger, bolder, and splashier than ever, with the addition of a waterski jump — the first in the show’s history. That means new tricks and flying reindeer that will take the holiday magic to new heights.
Admission to the show is by cash donation or non-perishable food item, with all proceeds going directly to the Burk’s Falls and District Food Bank. Those unable to attend can still contribute online and receive a charitable tax receipt through the Santa Ski Show Fundraiser on CanadaHelps.org.
Following last year’s incredible success — which saw the event raise over $10,000 — organizers are setting their sights even higher in 2025 to support families in need during the holiday season.
“The food bank provides support to many families in our community. It’s amazing to see the community and local businesses come together to support such a fun and meaningful event,” says Mike Rickward, Deputy Mayor of the Town of Kearney.
Now in its ninth year, the event has become a holiday tradition in the Almaguin Highlands. Visitors can expect Canada’s top show skiers from the national show skiing team, performing a world-class, Christmas-themed spectacle. Before the ski show begins, spectators can enjoy live music by Johnny Kennedy and a festive parade, featuring Santa Claus and a cast of Christmas characters.
“As a family-owned and operated business, giving back to the community we work and live in is a core part of who we are at SWS. Supporting the Santa Ski Show each year has become a meaningful tradition that combines holiday spirit with community generosity. SWS is proud to continue this tradition and to be part of a community that comes together to make a difference year after year,” said Geordie Newlands, Director, Summer Water Sports
The annual event raises money and collects food donations for the Burk’s Falls and District Food Bank, helping local families during the holiday season. Featuring Canada’s National Water Ski Show Team, the Santa Ski Show brings festive fun to Mirror Bay with crowd-favourite characters like Santa and the Grinch. The Santa Claus Charity Ski Show is proudly supported by the Kearney Lions Club and generous local sponsors, including Dawn Mashinter Chestnut Park Real Estate, Bray Motors, Rickward’s Polaris, Scarlett Point Retreat, SWS Muskoka, Muskoka Extreme, Show Ski Canada, NyDock, Muskoka Auto Parts, Lake of Bays Marina, Reynold’s Excavating, Shawn Todd Forestry, Scott Dingman Trucking, Darcy Prentice – Big Bad Construction, West Edge Building Company, Hunt’s Contracting, Fork on Main, Fetterley’s Gas, Kearney Legion, Nostalgia Antiques & Home Decor, Trailside Cookhouse, Long & McQuade Gravenhurst.
