Four People Arrested In North Bay Murder

The North Bay Police Service has arrested four people in connection with a homicide investigation that led to the area of Mulligan Street and arose following a missing person report on February 8, 2026.

Christina Lessis, 50-year-old, female, of, North Bay Ontario, has been charged with:

  • First Degree Murder
  • Indignity to a Dead Body
  • Aggravated Assault
  • Assault with a Weapon
  • Forcible Confinement
  • Uttering Threats to Cause Bodily Harm / Death
  • Extortion
  • Two Counts of Fail to Comply with Undertaking

Alexander Demers, 19-year-old, male, of, North Bay Ontario, has been charged with:

  • First Degree Murder
  • Indignity to a Dead Body
  • Aggravated Assault
  • Assault with a Weapon
  • Forcible Confinement

Nick Montague, 63-year-old, male, of, Sarnia Ontario, has been charged with:

  • Abetting to Commit First Degree Murder
  • Counselling to Commit Indignity to a Dead Body

Jody Lafleur, 57-year-old, male, of, Mattawa Ontario, has been charged with:

  • Abetting to Commit First Degree Murder
  • Counselling to Commit Indignity to a Dead Body

“The North Bay Police Service would like to extend our condolences to the family of the victim and those affected by this criminal act,” states Inspector McFarlane of the NBPS Criminal Investigations Section. “This incident began as a missing person investigation and later led to the charges that are now before the courts. The alleged criminal acts committed during this incident are reflected in the seriousness of the charges laid. Investigators believe the incident was targeted and that the victim and some of the individuals involved, were known to each other. The NBPS does not believe there is any ongoing threat to public safety.”

“Incidents like this are difficult for everyone involved, including our members who have worked tirelessly on this complex investigation,” said A/Deputy Warner. “There will be a lasting impact. Thankfully, wellness supports are available for our members, as well as resources for victims, family, and community members who may be affected. We encourage anyone who needs support to reach out and access these services.”

The four accused were arrested and held in custody pending a bail hearing.

The NBPS units involved in the investigation included the Uniformed Patrol Section, Emergency Response Team, Forensic Identification Unit, Criminal Investigation Section, and Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit. The NBPS would also like to thank our policing partners with the Ontario Provincial Police Technical Investigation Support Unit, North East Region Regional Support Team, Emergency Response Team and K-9 Unit, as well as the Sarnia Police Service Criminal Investigation Section for their assistance in this investigation.
