Almaguin Green Fair 2026

Almaguin residents are passionate about preserving our picturesque community, and they can get some great ideas about being green at an upcoming event.

On Saturday June 27, 2026, the Magnetawan Community Centre will host the Almaguin Green Fair from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The third annual event features experts from across the environmental spectrum highlighting positive actions to reduce our dependence on products and services harming our planet.

“This is the third annual Green Fair organized by a local group of friends concerned about carbon overuse,” says Peter Wyatt, one of the event’s organizers. “We want to provide an opportunity for Almaguin residents to learn more about practical solutions to lessen their carbon footprint. There are tough global challenges to be faced today, challenges that can seem overwhelming. But we can all make positive choices closer to home that serve the health of our environment.”

The goal of the Green Fair is to educate residents about making good choices. Exhibits include:

How Macro Recycling Works – A knowledgeable leader in the recycling business will be available to answer questions about what happens after you drop off your recyclables at the municipal landfill.

All You Wanted to Know about Heat Pumps – Ryan Kooy of Hughes Lake Heating will bring his knowledge of heat pumps, and some of his equipment, to the Fair.

EV and Hybrid Vehicles will be on hand with their enthusiastic drivers.

Home EV Charging Stations – Derek Hoar of Deklan Services will discuss enabling more efficient charging of electric vehicles.

Passive House Building – Tooketree Homes will bring ideas and information about building houses with extreme energy efficiency, including through architectural design.

Solar Panels – Aspire Renewables will have various panels on display, along with practical ideas for their use.

It doesn’t stop there. Other exhibitors will be available to share information on locally sourced food, battery powered tools and equipment, better cleaning products and refillables, land trusts, Climate Action Muskoka, and more.

Organizers emphasize that while transitioning away from carbon overuse will take time, nothing prevents individuals, industries, and institutions from making choices that can make a difference now.

After you visit the Green Fair, be sure to check out the Magnetawan Farmers Market and the Agricultural Society’s Barn Sale. Free muffins and coffee/tea will be available in the Green Café.
