It’s a first! The newly established Almaguin Pride Network presents the inaugural Almaguin Pride Party on Saturday July 15th from 5PM to 9PM. All the fun happens at the South River Brewing Company and will feature an evening of food, games, and live entertainment in celebration of LGBTQ+ history and culture.
The group emphasizes that Pride is for everyone, local residents, cottagers, and tourists, young and old.
Headlining the party is the local Drag Troupe “3 ½ Queens” which features 3 Drag Queens and 1 Non-Binary Singer. Also performing will be Geri Atrick, Dysphoria, Spacey Gray, and singer Mackenzie Drive. Performances will be interspersed throughout the event alongside games, art installations and locally sponsored food and drink offerings.
The Almaguin Pride Network is looking for sponsors and donors to help make this event possible. Supporters can donate to their Go Fund Me Page or businesses can contact us directly at almaguinpride@gmail.com. They are currently looking for local business sponsors for food, prizes, printing, and flowers.
The Almaguin Pride Network Team is co-led by Claire Burns. Claire has worked as a producer of live events for the past ten years including the Luminato Festival, Buddies in Bad Times Theatre and the Toronto Fringe Festival. She is a committed LGBTQ+ Community member who loves meeting new people and creating safe spaces for queer folks.
