On July 3, 2026, the Barrie Police Service Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE) arrested and charged a 39-year-old man from Barrie with possession of child sexual abuse and exploitation material, accessing child sexual abuse and exploitation material and distributing child exploitation material after a five-month investigation.
The Barrie Police ICE Unit launched the investigation following a report from the National Centre of Missing and Exploited Children concerning the upload of child sexual abuse and exploitation material.
Following further investigation, the ICE Unit executed a search warrant in June at a residence in the central area of the city. Several electronic devices belonging to the accused were seized for full forensic analysis.
Forensics resulted in the categorization of images and videos of child sexual abuse and exploitation material as well as files being distributed and purchased.

We’re all responsible for protecting our children from predators. To protect kids effectively, adults must recognize the warning signs of grooming, teach kids about personal safety, and understand how to report suspected abuse to the appropriate authorities.
