Beerhurst At Deerhurst

Writer: Andrew Hind

Here’s something to tip your glass to! The annual craft beer festival “Beerhurst at Deerhurst” returns to Deerhurst Resort in Huntsville on Friday, March 1st – 3rd.

The inaugural Beerhurst at Deerhurst was held in March 2020, right before the pandemic shut the world down. But if the COVID-19 pandemic has taught us anything over the past four years – and it has taught us plenty – it’s that people crave the comforts afforded by good food and drink, social gatherings, and lively music. As a result, Beerhurst at Deerhurst has rebounded from the dark days of the pandemic and grown into an important driver of spring tourism.

“The Beerhurst at Deerhurst Craft Beer Festival has taken on new heights since the inaugural event four years ago,” explains Danielle Charters, assistant director of marketing for Deerhurst Resort. “This festival has served as a reminder of the true human need for events that bring people together and we’ve had more breweries added each year, more attendees, and new and amazing acts coming to the stage. We look forward to continuing to grow Beerhurst.”

At its heart, Beerhurst At Deerhurst is a celebration of flavors. Two dozen of the best craft breweries from across the province will be attending, introducing patrons to brews with character and nuance beyond the ordinary. A good beer doesn’t just taste great but also tells an entertaining story. This is an opportunity to meet the brewers, share their passion, and learn their stories.

“With a drive to create, these breweries are formed with ideas of pushing the limits on beer styles and often a love for bringing people together,” Charters says.

Deerhurst’s stellar culinary team will pair these beers with an inspired menu of festive Beerhurst Bites, ranging from mini pizzas, spring rolls, and soft Bavarian pretzels to mini maple tarts, deep-fried mac and cheese bites, and duck and beef sliders.

“In a true joint effort, we looked to create a menu that is going to enhance the beer sampling experience,” explains Charters. With such a variety of different hand-crafted beer styles, it was important for us to create a menu that would support a diversity of flavors.”

Headlining the event with a Saturday evening concert is the award-winning Canadian rock band, The Trews, playing sets from their multiple Gold and Platinum-certified albums.

“The Trews are the perfect pairing for our Beerhurst At Deerhurst Craft Beer Festival with their no-nonsense, rocking hits,” says Charters. “As a proudly Canadian rock band, they are the natural choice to headline this festival full of locally produced craft beer vendors. We’re thrilled to welcome The Trews to their very first performance on the Deerhurst stage.”

Deerhurst is offering one or two-night weekend packages, including accommodation, ‘Brews & Food’ tickets, admission to the Saturday night festival, and The Trews concert party. Tickets just for the Saturday night beer festival/concert (without accommodation) are also available.

“Beerhurst at Deerhurst is an exciting event on our calendar,” says Charters, “and we look forward to continuing to grow it.”
